China has apparently lifted 850 million people out of poverty. These former peasant farmers have moved into the lower middle classes in Chinese cities and agriculture has been industrialised.
This also happened in the West where industrialisation has lead to major changes in society; going from the majority of the population growing food to only about 1-2%.
Farming, especially organic and regeneratively grown, is not profitable within an industrialised economy. It therefore requires government investment in the health of its population. Of course, this has been suppressed by the fossil fuel/pharma model of economic growth which requires that people are kept fat, sick and on drugs and eating industrialised crap food.
It is unknown whether human civilisation will be able to survive and grow food in the unstable climatic and environmental conditions that we have caused. However, massive economic growth on a finite planet (and thinking that we can replace the Mothership with another planet is just absurd), Western Imperialism, techno feudalism and the 1% having most of the wealth and land; which are all founded on fossil fuels, industrialised agriculture and pharma artificially keeping unhealthy people alive, is clearly unsustainable and will come to an end; whether by choice or not.
A return to the dignity of farming the land is necessary. A reconnection with each other in the flesh and with the earth, soil, water, non-human animals and true health is very desirable whether civilisation can survive or not.

(and thinking that we can replace the Mothership with another planet is just absurd),
Within this parenthetical statement can be found the insanity of insatiable greed and narcissism of humans without any reverence for the majesty and mystery of the only kingdom we will ever know.
