This whole ‘covid’ debacle has taught me not to try and change anyone's mind about anything nor to try to tell them what’s good for them, not only because it doesn’t work but because people have tried to do it to me, it’s annoying and I know that they’re wrong!
Having been told:-
I'm a dupe for being vegan as climate change isn't real; though conveniently ignoring lakes of toxic sewage, environmental destruction, loss of biodiversity, not to mention cruelty to animals,
that vegans are deficient in saturated animal fat, it’s apparently not even harmful anymore, that a vegan diet is dangerous and we’re putting our health at risk,
that eating meat is an anti-governement action, conveniently forgetting that animal products are heavily subsidised by the US,UK and EU countries governments, without which most people would not be able to afford them. The multinational animal ag companies have huge lobbying power and regularly fund scientific studies designed to show what they want. If our governments (industry puppets) really wanted us to stop us eating meant they would ban lobbying and remove the subsidies. Instead they create anti-vegan memes which are unthinkingly reposted. Eating is meat not such a great anti-globalist protest after all.
that our pet cats and dogs are ‘obligate carnivores’. They are not; as long as the diet has the essentials, including carnitine and taurine; proteins are unfolded and broken down into amino acids and them rebuilt into other proteins by mammalian bodies, the source of the amino acid is irrelevant. This is also why recommending collagen containing bone broth to treat conditions such as arthritis is ignorant of basic biochemistry.
A 2020 study Vegan versus meat-based dog food: Guardian-reported indicators of health showed that ‘Accordingly, the pooled evidence to date indicates that the healthiest and least hazardous dietary choices for dogs, are nutritionally sound vegan diets.’ Cats can also thrive on a well monitored vegan diet; Pet food diets.
Billions of cute, baby animals are taken from their families, confined, abused and slaughtered by animal lovers so that they can feed their pets junk food or the choicest raw meats.
Pets were originally completely self-sufficient wolves and wild cats, who were bred, trained and forced to be entirely dependent on humans for food; in order to comfort us and make us feel needed and benevolent. I am also caught in this trap.
Plus I’m also suspicious of the increasing influence of keto social media and the Weston A Price foundation on the Health Freedom movement; the rights, health and freedoms only applying to humans of course. WAP spout unsupported ecological and nutritional bollocks:-
.
It all makes me think that something fishy is going on. I suspect Big Animal Ag and its big sister Big Pharma. Trillions of vaccines are pumped into free range, grass fed animals and also into companion animals, as well as trillions of drugs, vaccines and antibiotics into factory farmed animals who make up the vast majority of the industry.

I thought that too about the Western price foundation.
Respectfully disagree - I dont think we should necessarily encourage people to feed their cats & dogs a vegan diet. (And ive been a vegetarian since I was 3, just to give perspective). The species-appropriate diet for cats & dogs is what they would eat if there were no human intervention.... what would they eat in the wild? For cats, its mostly going to consist of meat-based protein. The veggies come from whatever their prey already had in their stomach. See catinfo.org - which focuses more on avoiding dry food rather than meat vs veggies, but it does discuss it all.
