Jordan Peterson is a “know it all” celebrity and I am totally confused at the attention he gets. He says whatever will get him attention, money and power. What does he really believe? What good has he done?
The West has succeeded not because of its plundering and its evil ways, although of course those exist, but because of the solid Judeo-Christian values on which it was founded. The patriarchy, in its Classical sense, is the best structure for society. This doesn’t mean there have not been abuses along the way. By all means, let’s stop the abuses.
Maligning the patriarchy and trying to dismantle it, as we’ve attempted these last 60 odd years, has led to way more chaos than had we reformed it.
decaf: What was the point, though? The Germans were fighting for the right to self-determination against the Judeo-Communist-Banker empire. The cause of the war was Germany impinging on Poland's sovereignty... and at the end of the war, Judeo-Communists-Bankers controlled Poland... and no one cared, save Patton, who was dutifully assassinated.
Britain effectively sold its empire to the Judeo-Communist-Bankers... but that didn't help the average American. We also, as a species, decided that 'Nationalism' is a bad thing. Okay, fine, but remember that at this point only 20% of Californian children are white. So what's Cali going to be in 30 years... uh... Mexico. Cool. I speak Spanish and love Mexico but... it's nothing like my native Canada.
So now, 10s of thousands of Americans died in a war designed to assure that their children would be: fat, gay, directionless and basically worthless.
So yes, there was a point to the war, but since the side of pure evil won... it's not the point that we thought it was.
I begin to think the underlying conflict these days is between culture and capitalism.
You know who supports calitalism: all those people who tell us that our living with less is just fine as long as some get to live with more. In other words, the 1% want to be calling the shots.
Yes the 1% want to have more than us, but not by government restrictions on us, but by being allowed to continue to drill and burn and for us to buy more and more of their products.
I agree that the aggression, competition and plundering and all of that are masculine traits, but to put it in terms of "patriarchy" confuses the matter.
The problem you are getting at is excess capitalism.
(and yes we shouldn't ignore the issue of men's and boys' emotional processing, but that's a separate issue too)
There is no 'masculine' nor 'feminine' applying to men or women, they are social constructs. I don't think the term patriarchy confuses. It is the system that encourages and rewards aggression, competition and plunder which capitalism and growth is based on and feeds on. Conditioning of boys, and girls, behaviour is not separate at all to the success of the system nor to the success of capitalism.
I almost put quotes around "masculine" but that seemed confusing too. Without applying the term to people, as a matter of language, we have sorted behaviors into masculine and feminine categories, and that's all I meant.
Yes. Everyone under unmitigated capitalism is almost forced into this behavior. But "patriarchy" is a loaded term that gets into interpersonal and familial matters that are related but not central to the systemic issues you describe.
(understand that I'm agreeing with you and only quibbling over language)
The dark masculine underlying global imperial markets should not be overlooked, and nor should its devouring mother aspects, but neither should you ignore the “tai chi”, or the “supreme duality” that generates all the differentiated things in the cosmos out of the nondualistic primordial void (else you will always be trapped in endless false dualities).
This rejection of Yin and Yang —the masculine and feminine principles of the cosmos—is simply Anglo academic retardation, and if you insist on social constructionism with regards to male/female you risk being ignored by every great mind of the future.
I'm not sure who you're replying to, but I didn't insist on social constructionism for male female (which have some biological determinism), but for masculine and feminine. I do not reject any yin and yang for the universe either.
“Masculine” and “feminine” are adjectives that are all-encompassing (in toto, if you will) descriptions of “male” and “female,” respectively. If you describe a “male” as “masculine," you are precisely describing him...as a “male.” So I’m not sure what exactly you’re talking about here in making this distinction in social constructs between the pair “masculine”/“feminine” and “male”/“female.” The only difference here is grammatical.
Distinction without a difference. Rob is right, you’re trying to admit the nouns while rejecting the adjectives, but you can’t have it both ways. Saying that masculine and feminine cannot be applied to humans because social construct does imply everything I attributed to it.
So tell us what you really think Jo. Wow, you've covered all the bases here. Home run!! Except for the vegan part. I still "mildly" disagree with you on that one. But 99 out of 100. Not to many folk I can say are so in line with my POV. I hope you're spot on. Otherwise we're both in the wrong boat. (-:
A sinking ship is more like it Jo. The fact that "the patriarchy" is against veganism shouldn't affect the debate. There are people who I agree with on many things who I disagree with on some things on principal. Neil Oliver is a wonderful outspoken critic of the corporate industrial State. He's also spoken out eloquently on Covid policy and the erosion of free speech. But he's rabidly anti climate change. This is unfortunate and I think misguided. But I still love him just the same. The reverse is true as well. Even people like Jordan Peterson. I disagree with almost everything he says but a "Few" things I agree with. As they say, a broken clock is right twice a day.
No it doesn't affect the vegan debate at all, but my post wasn't about the debate it was looking at the patriarchy and what it supports!
I just read this from Christine Massey as a response to Vernon Coleman https://christinemasseyfois.substack.com/p/a-response-to-dr-vernon-coleman He seems to be saying that the no virus people are part of a deliberate ploy by globalists to get us to have different scientific opinions and thus to weaken the health freedom movement! What nonsense.
We all just say what we say and think what we think and try to become more aware of our own unconscious bias. Most of the debate is taking place outside analysis of the literature and in the media so has other motivations and influences too.
Really Jo? You've lived a sheltered life. That's an old trope. In my neck of the woods it goes like this. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one and they're all full of shit. That's why opinions are only as useful as far as you can throw them, out the window that is. I want analysis. And you give good analysis and the aroma is sweet not stinky.
Love the picture of the happy doggie. ALL Substack posts should include pictures of happy dogs, no matter what their content.

Thank you! Yes. He just moans about everything. Why is anyone listening?

Christian... not "judeo-Christian". The latter is a term coined in the 1930s to manipulate the American public into a pointless war.
It was anything but a pointless war.

World fascism? Scary!

Fair enough. 🙏🏽
Many of your critiques are astute.

Never mind. Too tired for this.

Thank you David, whether you agree with me on the vegan part as the best diet or not as the , the patriarchy is certainly attacking and ridiculing it.
I think I am spot on, meaning that us in the west are all in the wrong boat!

Jo
Are you in a competition with yourself to make the most OTT comment. I have not mispresented Jp. Only quoted him.
Unnhinged, mentally ill and insane for looking at the patriarchal system of control? Are you a bot?
That's so funny about assholes, I hadn't heard that before. Very apt.

Thank you again David, giving good analysis is my aim, I'm glad the air is sweet- that's a big compliment.
