Thank you for this. A doctor suggested monoclonal antibodies to control eczema for my child. Now they are treating children 6 months and older with the monoclonal antibodies (FDA approved this particular treatment for this age group just this year). My feeling is that it is a bad idea as we don’t understand much about the long term effects of these medications and it is very difficult to find information about them besides what the pharma companies selling them put out. We will see much more use of these biological medicines in the near future as they are becoming one of the ways to treat asthma and eczema as well.
thanks for reading. I didn't know mabs were now approved for 6 month old babies for eczema and asthma! This is a terrible idea and you are right to be cautious.
I was talking just yesterday about this with my neighbour, her daughter has had flare of eczema all her life, having one now, she's 10. My neighbour very wisely avoids antibiotics for her, as she will just have to start the regrowing of the microbiome. She finds porridge excellent and also put oat meal in the bath, it really soothed her daughters skin!
I'm going to research a post on excluding dairy and eggs as I've heard this.
But definelty monoclonal antibodies, I think they are going to start rivalling vaccines in their damage. I also heard that de Santis was giving them away 'free' for 'covid'.
Thank you for this and for your additional posts. For us, dairy was definitely a major trigger and my child got a lot of relief after removing all traces of it from the diet. Unfortunately, with multiple allergies, one of them wheat, oat meal baths are not that helpful. However, I often put agrimony in the bath and that helps (or at least doesn’t hurt). The herb is not well known in the US but it is commonly used for various ailments in Europe. I consider vaccines to be a big contributing factor to my child’s problems so I am now more careful with any medication, especially biologics. If I were offered this medication 2.5 years ago I would probably go for it (a person who has not dealt with a bad eczema in an infant/toddler cannot quite appreciate how horrible it is), but not now. We are lucky it was not approved then.
I am so glad that you get some relief from dairy free and agrimony, I have not heard of it.
Yes, I can see how distressing it is for everyone who has or loves someone who has eczema. I had some around my eyes when I was very stressed many years ago and my ex husband had really bad seborrheic dermatitis when he was stressed (though also may have been a b vitamin deficiency)
Thank you for the information. this is very frightening. Children are also medicated for mood 'disorders' from very young ages, worse in the US than here in the UK I think, but I'm sure we'll catch up.

Here is the information about the approval of monoclonal antibodies for children: https://www.pharmacytimes.com/view/fda-approves-dupilumab-for-children-6-months-to-5-years-of-age-with-atopic-dermatitis
