The dislike of the (mainland) Chinese is so great that many hotel owners would rather forego their custom than have put up with their rudeness and arrogance. Their promised infrastructure projects never materialize.
My wife's family fled China during the cultural revolution so they don't have such a benign view of the CCP as you do, although clearly things have changed.
I would be sad if Taiwan was taken over by the People's Republic. It is now the vegan capital of the world with 13% of the population being vegan. It is doubtful you would find many vegan restaurant after reunification.

Rudeness of the Chinese seems irrelevant to trading with most of Asia's biggest trading partner. Relations seems to be great.
