As a Canadian, I have been swimming in this ever since it happened. It amazes me how everyone I know (IRL, not online) truly believes it was an accident, an innocent mistake on Trudeau's part, and they think too much is being made of it, just let it go. I was amazed at how many people fell for the plandemic narrative too, though. And after everything that's happened in the past 3-4 years, how are so many Canadians still giving Trudeau a pass? I cannot wrap my head around it. It's as if he has some capacity to hypnotize people, he literally can do no wrong in the eyes of so many of my fellow citizens.

Sorry,I guess I'm ranting and repeating myself, shows how frustrated I am.

Hiya Jen,

No need to apologise, rant all you like. It's interesting to see it for your perspective. We don't really admire or get excited about our politicians like Americans do, interesting that Canadian's do as well.

It is impossible to get our heads around it. There seem to be two types of people, those who read MSM, believe what they're told and trust politicians and doctors with their health, the majority, and those who don't. But it does seem to be even more than that. Like there's something in the water turning people into f$ck wits.

While you're here I'll have my rant too!. Today at my local veg farm, where you'd think there would be a receptive audience I was saying how annoying it was not to have a vegan menu on a 'veg centric' vegetable growing farm restaurant website. I said I don't want to be 'catered for' or have substitutions I want to know what vegan wonders they are offering me, and this woman starts going off on one that vegetarians can't get what they want now cos of vegans and veggies have to eat vegan cheese or the plant based options, though what restaurants offer clearly has nothing to do with me!! I've been blamed before for people eating more factory farmed animals too by not supporting 'grass-fed'. Vegans are blamed for everything. God. Then she starts saying vegan is a fad and isn't that healthy anyway.

I was so annoyed I just rolled my eyes and turned away. There's been a lot in news lately about vegan spreads not being healthy (which they're probably not and I don't eat them.) Why can't people see it comes from the dairy industry?

Why does everyone have to be such a f$ck wit? Why don't I know any Covid, proxy war awake vegans IRL?

arrggggg.

Boy do I hear you... words cannot express how infuriating it is hearing all the nonsense spewed against vegans, from every aspect; the denial of the health part, the obliviousness of how it affects the environment, the insistence either that animals dont suffer or that its ok that they do because thats what their purpose is on this planet... and how come people who were able to see through the BS-vaccines-are-safe-and-effective messaging are not able to see through the meat-and-dairy-are-healthy messaging? honestly staying sane is a massive challenge. It really does seem like there is something in the water turning people into f$ck wits.

Thank you Jen. It really helps to know someone else understands and gets it.

Yes, even if people are awake to big Pharma's lies and tactics, how come they think that equally politically entrenched and powerful big animal ag is trustworthy? There's some kind of blockage in the brain.

I think it's one of the most disturbing things. Not so much what they're trying to do, nor climate change nor the war. But that everyone has turned into a complete zombie.

I have twice been vegetarian, eight years each time. And vegan for about six months. I felt good as a vegan for a few months. Quite good. It didn’t last. I also have tried Keto, meh, and carnivore. On carnivore I had/have WAY more energy and WAY WAY more clarity of mind. I feel better eating meat. You can argue health benefits of vegan/vegetarian but active meat eaters are seemingly healthier than vegans. I previously, 50 years ago, was a cult member. All vegetarians. I have remained friends. We are all 70+ now. The ones who remained vegetarian aren’t vital or active. The few meat eaters are healthier.

BTW....ACTIVE meat eaters seem healthier. Inactive sedentary pot bellied meat eaters might be at least as unhealthy as my long term vegie friends.

It is hardly surprising you are frustrated with Trudeau. He sticks to the nation something awful.

"The enemy, if there is one..."

It's rare to be inspired to quote Donald Rumsfeld but his words the day before 9-11 are prophetic. "The adversary is closer to home it's the Pentagon bureaucracy.. in fact it can be said it's a matter of life & death.. " The 2001 can't track total $2.3 trillion in spending now 20X that.

Jo, you stated "I fear we are all reacting just the way they wanted." I never held out any illusions that many Americans wouldn't follow the "leaders". It's been this way for years. 80+% of us believed in WMD's. (I didn't BTW). Most believed that Covid was a massive problem (I even bought into it briefly). As Chomsky wrote about 40 years ago, the powers that be have indeed Manufactured Consent. It will take a generation, at least to unwind this knot. I hope it's possible. I have to believe. Call me crazy!

* And Neil Postman's book Amusing Ourselves to Death is another illuminating look at how we got here.

Thank you. I knew it wasn't right but was thinking it was Jacinda I'd got wrong. Yes it doesn't matter but it does matter.

Jacinda is unusual and rather lovely name.

She certainly did seem to relish each and every power-grabbing moment. I am very glad she's gone.

There is no East v West or communism v capitalism/democracy. The world is a stage and the actors playing their parts. A play running for hundreds of years, longer than that, in fact.

Iraq followed this template as well. The oil companies were the big winners. But many other corporate pigs fed at the trough. Disaster capitalism as Naomi Klein wrote about. Sometimes it's natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes and floods. But they're too impatient to wait around for these events so they create them themselves.
