Up until the late 1950's new innovations in energy/ propulsion were being widely reported in the mainstream press and everyone was (quite reasonably) expecting a Jetsons world by the end of the 20th century. Mainstream newspapers from the 1950's had articles about how the age of the jet engine is nearly over and soon anti grav will replace them (the infamous 'flying cars'). All the major aerospace companies were quite openly developing such technologies. By all accounts they were on the verge of a breakthrough.
But then at the end of the 1950's the topic of new energy/ propulsion technologies fell off the radar never to be spoken of again. It was quickly redefined as a 'woo' subject.
Just imagine they DID develop technologies at the end of the 1950's that could end the scarcity paradigm, give us effortless and almost free transport (and shipping) and liberate us all from fuel poverty, Big Oil and governments. If energy and transport are no longer limiting factors, the 'elite' no longer have any hold over the population. Big Oil would collapse for sure.
If you look again at history you can see that from the 60's onwards society's optimism and expectation of a Jetsons future was carefully - and slowly - deflated. Instead of unveiling new anti grav technologies, we were given Apollo and that whole theatrical production, followed by the Space Shuttle and then Space X ..... all of these are essentially repackaged versions of 1940's rocket tech.

I'm not saying I know all but first this is a good question. My 2 cents:
1. They want access to all the assets of the planet, land, sea, and air without complaints from surfs. They are particularly interested in undersea mining without concern for exclusivity zones, which I read is worth many times the current GDP. There is already a UN body making it's way to manage the seas. They want to make colonies on other planets and prepare to be able to leave the earth once sunny boy grows up, ie looks like he's gonna eject some corona (get it, corona). Large coronal ejections will come much sooner than the nova and when they do the surface of the earth will be uninhabitable for quite a while. Even if you say thats not for millions of years, hey, I dont make this sht up.
2. Leaving 1.5 Bil people is A LOT to prune down, but still a a lot of people. There were 2 Bil at the end of WWII. They need us to do things and be part of medical experiments for their plan of eternal life and for organ harvesting. And a little nooky with us when they want (there will be different levels of "us" and some of us might be able to marry them and move up in rank-whoopie).
3. It's not about running out of resources, its us in the way of them using all of them. Oil is abiotic, there is really no limit to it and fission is not dangerous, they want you to think so but you can have a natural reactor in your backyard, they are in Gabon. "Fossil" fuels is the scarcity paradigm, and "dangerous" fission is the "it needs to be controlled-you can't have it" paradigm.
I would say they already have access and are deep sea mining, being global corps with power in every country. Up until the late 1950's new innovations in energy/ propulsion were being widely reported in the mainstream press and everyone was (quite reasonably) expecting a Jetsons world by the end of the 20th century. Mainstream newspapers from the 1950's had articles about how the age of the jet engine is nearly over and soon anti grav will replace them (the infamous 'flying cars'). All the major aerospace companies were quite openly developing such technologies. By all accounts they were on the verge of a breakthrough.
But then at the end of the 1950's the topic of new energy/ propulsion technologies fell off the radar never to be spoken of again. It was quickly redefined as a 'woo' subject.
Just imagine they DID develop technologies at the end of the 1950's that could end the scarcity paradigm, give us effortless and almost free transport (and shipping) and liberate us all from fuel poverty, Big Oil and governments. If energy and transport are no longer limiting factors, the 'elite' no longer have any hold over the population. Big Oil would collapse for sure.
If you look again at history you can see that from the 60's onwards society's optimism and expectation of a Jetsons future was carefully - and slowly - deflated. Instead of unveiling new anti grav technologies, we were given Apollo and that whole theatrical production, followed by the Space Shuttle and then Space X ..... all of these are essentially repackaged versions of 1940's rocket tech.
Once the masses accepted stagnation (+ hype) as 'progress', they took it a step further, bringing back windmills (abandoned 200 years ago because they were rubbish) and then electric cars (abandoned 100 years ago because they were rubbish). We are now in an era of technological regression, as well as a depopulation. The only technologies that are allowed to advance (in the public domain) are technologies of digital surveillance and transhumanism.
But in the mega corporate world they are probably flying all over the solar system and enjoying the Jetsons world that we all expected to be living by now.
People in the 1950's and 60's were still highly motivated, innovative, productive and expecting a Jetson's world - as a consequence of all of their hard work. Much of the social decline of the past 50 years is because we have not been allowed to progress naturally. The withholding of new energy / propulsion tech has completely fucked up society and the economy. We have smartphones but we're still driving cars that are based on a 100 year old design. People can only work for money now because the technologies that would actually IMPROVE society (energy/ propulsion technologies) never make it to market.
Now the current generation is being trained to accept no air travel, 15 minute zones, CBDC's, no personal mobility, climate lockdowns etc..... basically a return to feudal living when people owned nothing and rarely travelled from the area where they were born.
If we allow the smart cities and digital surveillance and control grid to be fully implemented, that might be the moment the elite will show up in their super duper flying machines and rule us openly as 'gods' (as a breakaway civilisation).... just as we could so easily rule primitive Amazonian tribes with our helicopters and machine guns if we wanted to. If the technology gap is wide enough, that rule can continue indefinitely.

I'm not saying I know all but first this is a good question. My 2 cents:
1. They want access to all the assets of the planet, land, sea, and air without complaints from surfs. They are particularly interested in undersea mining without concern for exclusivity zones, which I read is worth many times the current GDP. There is already a UN body making it's way to manage the seas. They want to make colonies on other planets and prepare to be able to leave the earth once sunny boy grows up, ie looks like he's gonna eject some corona (get it, corona). Large coronal ejections will come much sooner than the nova and when they do the surface of the earth will be uninhabitable for quite a while. Even if you say thats not for millions of years, hey, I dont make this sht up.
2. Leaving 1.5 Bil people is A LOT to prune down, but still a a lot of people. There were 2 Bil at the end of WWII. They need us to do things and be part of medical experiments for their plan of eternal life and for organ harvesting. And a little nooky with us when they want (there will be different levels of "us" and some of us might be able to marry them and move up in rank-whoopie).
3. It's not about running out of resources, its us in the way of them using all of them. Oil is abiotic, there is really no limit to it and fission is not dangerous, they want you to think so but you can have a natural reactor in your backyard, they are in Gabon. "Fossil" fuels is the scarcity paradigm, and "dangerous" fission is the "it needs to be controlled-you can't have it" paradigm.

Perhaps not so much in BRICS who are going to have something to say about the depopulation once it starts and will perhaps take over as they will have the bigger armies?
